Impressive record to maintain
Impressive record to maintain
Hertha BSC are away to FSV Frankfurt on matchday 2 on Sunday(12.08.12, 15.30 CET). Until now, the capital city side have always returned to Berlin with maximum points in the bag from their visits to the Volksbank-Stadion.
After opening the new Bundesliga 2 season with a 2-2 home draw against SC Paderborn, Hertha play their first away game of the season on Sunday, as the capital city team take on FSV Frankfurt at the Volksbank-Stadion. Frankfurt also began with a matchday 1 draw, 1-1 at newly-promoted SV Sandhausen.
Hertha's new number 10 Änis Ben-Hatira has served his suspension and has made the trip to Frankfurt. Peer Kluge on the other hand has remained in Berlin for treatment to an ankle injury. Central defender Christoph Janker is also ruled out of Sunday's game. He is struggling to shake off an adductor problem. Daniel Beichler is also unavailable for selection. He has travelled to his Austrian homeland for "personal" reasons and will remain there for an undisclosed period of time.
Stats favour Hertha
There have been four previous meetings between FSV Frankfurt and Hertha BSC. The Berliners emerged victorious on three of those occasions. Frankfurt won the other encounter. In the last meeting, an 88th minute header by Columbian hitman Adrian Ramos saw Hertha take maximum points.
Hertha coach Jos Luhukay still expects a tough task in Frankfurt: "We expect to face a team ready to give their all in order to win their first home game of the season. They are a strong-running side and tough tacklers. If you give them room to operate in, they are capable of using it well. FSV also have two really good front men in Edmond Kapllani and John Verhoek", says the Dutchman, who knows all about Edmond Kapllani because they were together at FC Augsburg last season.
Berlin the pre-match favourites
Albanian-born Kapplani sees Hertha as the clear favourites ahead of Sunday's clash. He said this week: "It will be a tough game because Hertha are a strong side. As I have said before they are one of the top sides in division two. But we will grit our teeth, give our all and hope that Hertha have a bad day." FSV boss Benno Möhlmann agrees with his striker. He says that Hertha are the pre-match favourites, but still wants his side to play: "Bravely and confidently."
Hertha are hoping to convert more of their chances than was the case against Paderborn. Striker Sami Allagui is not unduly worried though: "We have put that game behind us and will do a better job on Sunday. Three points are up for grabs and we want them!" says the forward who made his Hertha debut last time out.
Strong support in Frankfurt.
The team are by no means travelling to Frankfurt alone on Sunday. Over 1,100 Hertha faithful will be there to get right behind the lads.
Anyone wishing to watch the team on Sunday will not have a problem with tickets. There are still tickets in all categories available.
Possible line-ups:
Hertha BSC: Burchert - Ndjeng, Hubnik, Brooks, Schulz - Ronny, Niemeyer, Knoll, Ramos - Allagui, Kachunga
FSV Frankfurt: Klandt – Huber, Schlicke, Heubach, Jung - Konrad, Bambara, Görlitz, Roshi - Kapllani, Verhoek
