Hertha legend "Zecke" previews Hertha's Bundesliga games! This time: SC Paderborn away on matchday 10.
Berlin - Every football club has its legend. Without doubt Hertha BSC's is Andreas "Zecke" Neuendorf. He has blue and white blood coursing through his veins. He has been at Hertha for 15 years, making 278 appearances, scoring 28 goals in the process. Everyone knows he has his heart in the right place and is a true "Berliner" if ever there was one. This season "Zecke has become a "football pensioner" working within the club since hanging up his boots last term. He is still very opinionated and will tell us all how he sees his beloved Hertha's games going before each matchday in the 2014/15 season. No doubt he will play with his cards on the table. He will be honest, open and probably sometimes a little tongue in cheek - typical "Zecke"! So what does that mean for opponents? Watch out! "Zecke" will pull no punches and take no prisoners as he tells it as it is... Read here his thoughts ahead of Bundesliga matchday 10.
"Off to Paderborn! They are the surprise package of the season after winning promotion to the top flight last season. They play without fear and have collected points by springing surprises on several teams. They even topped the Bundesliga table after four rounds at the start of the season. A belated well done for that from me.
We have been knocked out of the DFB Cup, which is a great shame. We cannot afford to dwell on that fact because we must look forward now. You cannot influence past events, but what we can influence is the way we play in Paderborn on Sunday. We have shown in recent home games that we are capable of taking points. That is how I want to see the team play in Paderborn, with the strengths which have made us a force at the Olympic stadium in Berlin.
Paderborn are something of an unknown quantity. Hertha have played them four times until now, with a record of two wins and one draw. Until now the sides have always met in Bundesliga 2, so it will be interesting to watch them in a top flight clash this weekend. Our team still leads the others in the Bundesliga when it comes to chances taken. The lads have to create some on Sunday and I’m sure that they will be able to put away some of them.
We don’t need any surprises on Sunday. When the team focus on their strengths and bring them into play on Sunday we can take all three points home with us. Come on Hertha, Ha Ho He!"
