Hertha legend "Zecke" previews Hertha's Bundesliga games! This time: Hannover 96 at home on matchday 11.
Berlin - Every football club has its legend. Without doubt Hertha BSC's is Andreas "Zecke" Neuendorf. He has blue and white blood coursing through his veins. He has been at Hertha for 15 years, making 278 appearances, scoring 28 goals in the process. Everyone knows he has his heart in the right place and is a true "Berliner" if ever there was one. This season "Zecke has become a "football pensioner" working within the club since hanging up his boots last term. He is still very opinionated and will tell us all how he sees his beloved Hertha's games going before each matchday in the 2014/15 season. No doubt he will play with his cards on the table. He will be honest, open and probably sometimes a little tongue in cheek - typical "Zecke"! So what does that mean for opponents? Watch out! "Zecke" will pull no punches and take no prisoners as he tells it as it is... Read here his thoughts ahead of Bundesliga matchday 11.
"Finally another home game! I enjoy looking back at our last home game against HSV. I would like a repeat performance, this time against the other HSV – Hannover 96. The situation is similar to the home games against Wolfsburg and Stuttgart: Night game, floodlights and an expectant crowd! Perfect for adding another three points to our tally.
Hannover seems to be a side that do just enough and no more. I must say that their ability to collect 16 points having only scored seven goals is impressive. Respect! But we have good stats too: Three straight home victories, nine points and a goal ratio of 7:2. I think we can build on that. Maybe you Hertha fans are making the difference at the moment. Your support boosts the lads and makes them give the last couple of percent in their performance. I still get goose bumps when I remember the latter stages of the home games against Wolfsburg and Stuttgart as every clearance and won tackle were greeted with huge roars.
Your wonderful support has given the team stability and they have paid you back for it, certainly in the last home game against HSV. The last three home games were good performances but very hard work. Not just for the team but you fans too. Nobody gifted us those victories, we had to earn them! That must be the basis to work off against Hannover. They have to sense that there will only be one winner in Berlin on Friday night – us!
I know that the lads will make it tough for Hannover to take anything home from the game with them. Home game, strong will and lots of effort must be the way. Floodlights and Hertha fans right behind them! I am sure that those factors will ensure that all three points stay in Berlin. After tonight there is another break for international games. And then operation away win begins when the players return.
So lets go all you Herthaner! Fight hard and win! Ha Ho He!"
