Hertha legend 'Zecke' Neuendorf tells us how he thinks the lads will do! This time: FC Augsburg at home!
Berlin - 'Zecke', a Hertha player for 15 years gives us his view on opponents ahead of each Bundesliga matchday.
"I have great respect for our next opponent FC Augsburg! What they have maneaged to do not just this season but also in previous seasons in the Bundesliga is really remarkable. Their great strength is their balance - without any big stars in the team. The star is the team itself as Berti Vogts used to say.
Hertha must be wide awake against FCA at all times. They press high up the pitch and counter attack with numbers. Their main strength is attack, but the team under coach Markus Weinzierl have not won for three games. We are not in a position to take any opponent lightly, so lets not spend too much time looking across the halfway line.
We are only looking to ourselves! Accept the relegation battle, match them in all departments and fight, fight fight! We have looked good in games where we have done that. Wolfsburg was also a performance to build upon. Once again we must be determined in the tackle and not give too much ball away, and when we do fight hard to get it back. The game will certainly not be an attacking spectacle - as previous games against Augsburg have shown. But we must take the few chances we create against them.
That makes me optimistic. If we can keep things tight at the back, we will have some chances to score even if we have to force them to happen. A single goal could be decisive. I agree with our coaching team: We don't have to play pretty - we need points. And we will get them by hook or by crook! HaHoHe!"
