KICK OFF!

KICK OFF!

Hertha legend 'Zecke' Neuendorf tells us how he thinks the lads will do! This time: VfB Stuttgart away!
Berlin - 'Zecke', a Hertha player for 15 years gives us his view on opponents ahead of each Bundesliga matchday.

"Dear Hertha fans, today's the day! We expect the Friday night game in Stuttgart to be a hugely tense affair, but the lads will do the job. They will be well prepared and highly-motivated. There is a lot more happening on the fringes of the encounter. Hertha coach Pal Dardai pits his wits against his former "master" Huub Stevens who is a known for his tactical prowess. We played together under him in Berlin. It will be interesting to see how much Pal learned from the Dutchman during that time.

VfB are not in the best shape at the moment so we have to try and take advantage of that. It won't be easy though. Our Schwabian hosts will try to beat us in any way they can. They need the points as badly as we do. Their home record this season does not exactly cause us to freeze in fear - but stats are just numbers and we haven't exactly lit up the world away from home this term. What counts is what happens on the pitch, so like we did against Augsburg, we have to tackle hard, run for each other, keep things tight at the back and score a goal more than our opponents. If we can't win on Friday night, we must at least not lose.

Even if we are without the services of key trio Per Skjelbred, Peter Niemeyer and Julian Schieber we are still strong enough. There are lads in our team who lead by example, especially Peter Pekarik - a real tough guy who will protect his broken nose with a mask in Stuttgart. Valentin Stocker is back and will hopefully cause havoc up front alongside Salomon Kalou. A further win would allow us all to breathe slightly easier. Maybe after that we can start to play the kind of football everyone wants to see, but for now it is all about collecting crucial points and I am sure - we will do so in Stuttgart on Friday night!"
