0-2: Bayern too good

0-2: Bayern too good

Hertha BSC lost 0-2 away to Bayern Munich on matchday 14.
Mucnich - Hertha lost 0-2 at Bundesliga leaders Bayern munich on Saturday afternoon (28.11.15). Bayern’s goals were scored in the first half by Thomas Müller and Javi Martinez

Pál Dárdai made one change to his side which beat Hoffenheim 1-0 at home last time out. Vedad Ibisevic returned from his four match ban and replaced Tolga Cigerci. Salomon Kalou and Genki Haraguchi were on the wings, while captain Fabian Lustenberger moved into what was a back five when the home side had the ball.

Bsuper star Bayern coach Pep Guardiola made three changes to his team, with Benatia, Martinez and Alonso picked ahead of Badstuber, Robben and Douglas Costa, all of whom were in Champions League action in midweek.
The game began at a bright pace and Hertha’s Plattenhardt had the opening chance as he fired wide on five minutes. As usual Bayern were in attacking mood  and began to get forward. Brooks and Langkamp had to clear several crosses into the berlin box. Bayern threatened for the first time as Lewandowski stuck a post on ten minutes. Six minutes later the prolific Pole was denied by Hertha keeper Jarstein with a good save. On 34 minutes former Liverpool man Alonso took a corner from the right which was headed home by Müller. It was the World Cup winner’s 13th of the season. Jarstein did well to deny Vidal but on 42 minutes Coman made it 2-0, rounding off a wonderful Bayern move. The home side led 2-0 at half time..

The second half began like the first with the hosts pushing forward. Hertha stood firm at the back and did not allow Bayern many opportunities. They were of course dangerous when the did manage to find a gap. Jarstein needed a top drawer reflex save to keep out a further Lewanowski effort (55.). Hertha got forward themselves on a couple of occasions towards the end of the game. Substitute Valentin Stocker fed  Haraguchi, but he shot straight at home keeper Manuel Neuer. Then Kalou had a great chance to score a consolation goal but fired narrowly wide of target (88.). That was the final chance of the game. Bayern deservedly won 2-0 at the sold out Allianz-Arena.

Hertha BSC gave a good account of themselves against one of the best clubs in Europe until the goals were scored. Good defensive work prevented a higher scoreline.

Hertha entertain Bayer Leverkusen at home next Saturday (05.12.15, 3.30 PM) on Bundesliga matchday 15.
