Berlin - Job well done: Hertha BSC are back in the Bundesliga! A 1-0 win over lowly Sandhausen on Sunday afternoon (21.04.13), was enough to gain the capital city side automatic promotion to the top flight. It was Hertha's sixth promotion and their first in front of a home crowd.
The season target was crystal clear: Return to the top flight at the first attempt! That is what Luhukay demanded of his players at the post-match press conference following the 1-3 defeat at FSV Frankfurt on matchday 2. And it worked! After that Hertha put together an amazing run of 21 games unbeaten, which is a club record!
Strong season
The team was tough to beat from October 2012. Hertha were impressive as they collected point after point during their brief Bundesliga 2 stay. The stats speak for themselves: 55 goals scored and only 22 conceded. A fantastic tally by anyone's standards.
Not only the goal tally was impressive. Luhukay's men have the best home record (37 points) and with 29 points the best away record too. Only 22 goals conceded and only two defeats all season up to matchday 30 is an all time club record. But the team has not had enough yet. They want to continue their success in the remaining four games and go up as champions!
