Hertha BSC lost 1-2 away to Bayer Leverkusen on matchday 32.
Leverkusen - Hertha BSC lost 1-2 away to Bayer Leverkusen on Bundesliga matchday 32. Vedad Ibisevic scored for the visitors while Brandt and Bender netted for the home side in front of a 30,201 sell out crowd inside the BayArena. Because neither Cologne or Ingolstadt failed to win, Hertha’s place in next seasons’ Europa League was assured before kick off on Saturday evening (30.04.16).
Pál Dárdai made three changes to his side which lost at home to champions elect Bayern Munich last time out. Thomas Kraft made way for Rune Almenning Jarstein between the posts, while Per Skjelbred replaced für Maximilian Mittelstädt and striker Salomon Kalou got the nod over Valentin Stocker. The visitors tried to recover from the early setback but conceded again on 16 minutes as they failed to deal properly with a free kick by Calhanoglu. Bender reacted quickest to poke the ball home. Hertha won a corner taken by Tolga Cigerci, but Fabian Lustenberger headed wide from a central position (20.). The capital city side went one better moments later as Vedad Ibisevic headed in a cross from Peter Pekarik (21.). The visitors were back in the game again but the home side maintained the pressure on them. After half an hour Aranguiz forced Rune Almenning Jarstein into a fine save with an effort from the edge of the box. Things then calmed down slightly and goalmouth action became a rarity. The Leverkusen deserved their 2-1 half time lead.
