Weiser back in training
After a long time on the sidelines with injury, Mitchell Weiser returned to training on Tuesday afternoon. Teammates Salomon Kalou and Sebastian Langkamp sat the session out.
Berlin - Summer came early to Schenckendorfplatz on Tuesday as Hertha BSC returned to training. Pal Dardai was also in a summer mood, and even pushed training back half an hour to start a week which will culminate in a trip to Hamburg on Sunday evening.
Weiser returns
There was one very obvious difference about today’s training, though. Mitchell Weiser, absent for so long through injury, was back in the thick of the action, completing the full 80 minutes with his teammates, scoring goals and challenging for 50-50s. “He trained very well, we are very pleased,” said an excited Pál Dárdai. “He got involved with everything and was very intense. The muscle will strengthen with movement. But Dardai was unsure when Weiser would return to competitive action. “We do not want to overstretch him. If everything goes to plan he might be available for the Dortmund game.
Sinan Kurt continues to train separately, and spent today with fitness coach Hendrik Vieth.
Trio absent
Sebastian Langkamp and Salomon Kalou took a break from today’s session, Kalou with a bruised foot and Langkamp with a muscle problem after Saturday’s win. Dardai was positive about both ahead of the weekend. “We have great physios, who will do everything they can.”
Maximillian Mittelstädt, Jordan Torunarigha and Nils Körber are all in Wales preparing for the under-23 International Cup match with Swansea FC. Florian Baak (Knee) and Arne Maier (Knee tendon) continue their rehabilitation, while Alexander Baumjohann is suffering from Tonsillitis.
Those fit have a long week of training ahead of them, with morning and afternoon sessions on Wednesday, before open sessions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
