Salomon Kalou extends Hertha BSC deal!

Der Hauptstadtclub hat den im Sommer auslaufenden Vertrag mit Salomon Kalou verlängert. Der Ivorer, der in 86 Pflichtspielen 30 Mal traf, spielt

seit 2014 in Berlin.

 

The capital city club has agreed a contract with the Ivorian international, who has been in Berlin since 2014, after his current deal was set to expire in the summer. 

The ink is dry! On Wednesday, Hertha BSC and Salomon Kalou confirmed the agreement to extend the Ivorian's stay in the German capital. "We are delighted that Salomon has chosen to stay with us despite the other offers he received. He is an important part of this team and will be a big help to us to improve further in the future," stated Michael Preetz. So far this season he has six goals and four assists in 16 games, with an overall record of 30 goals and eight assists from his 86 appearances. "I feel very comfortably in Berlin and I still have plenty that I want to achieve with Hertha BSC. I would like to help the team continue to progress as it has in the last few years," said the 31-year old upon signing the deal. Pál Dárdai was also pleased with the news about the Ivorian, whom he regards as an important player for more than just the strength he adds to the forward line. "Salomon is a real champion. He has won everything but despite that he is still hungry for more. He is a model professional and a great example for all players," commented the head coach.

Kalou joined Hertha in the summer of 2014 from French side Lille OSC, for whom he had signed in 2012 from Premier League team Chelsea. He spent six years at Chelsea overall, which saw him win the 2012 Champions League against Bayern München, whie also claiming a league title in 2010 along with a further four domestic cups. Kalou started his career with ASEC Mimosas in his home nation before moving to Feyenoord Rotterdam in 2003. He has managed 28 goals in his 90 international appearances since making his debut in 2007, featuring in both the 2010 and 2014 World Cups and picking up a gold medal at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
