Re-shuffle for Bremen

Re-shuffle for Bremen

On Tuesday (25.04.17), Hertha began their training week which culminates in Saturday’s trip to in-form Werder Bremen. Pál Dárdai will be forced to make one change for the match in Bremen.
Berlin –Pál Dárdai knows what it means to rebuild something – that’s exactly what he’s had to do on numerous occasions this season. He will have to do so again this coming Saturday, as he will be without John Anthony Brooks for the game in Bremen because the defender has a hip injury.
Dárdai tested out a few possible ideas to cope with Brooks’ absence in Tuesday’s training session, which was Hertha’s first session in the run-up to this weekend’s key Bundesliga clash.  Jordan Torunarigha took the role in central defence in training. Youngster Florian Baak and Sidney Friede also took part and formed the central defensive partnership on the opposing team.  “Jordan is the alternative. He’s still a young player who still has a lot to learn, but he’s already shown that he can handle the pressure,” said Pál Dárdai, who can also rely on the support of experienced players such as Sebastian Langkamp. “Basti will always give one or two of the younger players advice and help them,” said the head coach.
Three players in individual training
Another Hertha payer who was unable to train with the team on Tuesday was Vladimir Darida. He trained individually after sustaining a blow to the knee during last Saturday’s home win over Wolfsburg. He is set to re-join the first-team on Wednesday, however. “With Vladi it was a precaution,” said Dárdai.
While Brooks joins Julian Schieber, Niklas Stark and Valentin Stocker on Hertha’s injury list, some players are on the road to recovery. Mitchell Weiser and Sinan Kurt worked individually with fitness coach Hendrik Vieth on Tuesday. “It’s nice that he’s back on the pitch, but he needs to re-gain trust in his own body, particularly when it comes to uncontrolled movements,” said the coach. Fabian Lustenbeger will take a little longer to recover.
The match in Bremen will come too soon for the Swiss and the ex-Munich man. The rest of the Hertha squad will train at 10:00 CEST and 15:30 CEST on Wednesday. Then the Bundesliga continues on matchday 31, albeit Hertha will have to do without one of their central defenders.
