Friendly win to round out the season

Hertha closed out their 2016/17 campaign with a 7-1 win over SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug on Friday evening. In somewhat of a surprise, it was the hosts from the Brandenburg-Liga who took the lead with the first chance of the game. From there on in though Hertha were dominant, quickly equalising through Salomon Kalou before Vedad Ibisevic put Pal Dardai’s men in front. The same two places then added another goal each to send Blue-Whites in 4-1 to the good at the break.
Four changes were made at the start of the second period, with Skjelbred, Kohls, Owusu and Kraft were introduced in place of Langkamp, Darida, Ibisevic and Kalou. Peter Pekarik then added his names to the scoresheet before Sinan Kurt’s brace made the lead 7-1. Thomas Kraft showed his quality in between the posts at the other end by saving a late penalty to keep the advantage at six. “The boys put on a good show in the heat. They played as a unit, it was a lovely way to round off the season,” said a satisfied Pal Dardai. “It was a nice run out for those who are off on international duty as well,” said the Hungarian as he waved his side off on their summer break.
