Dates for the diary: 2017/18 UEFA Europa League

Hertha BSC will enter the group stages of the 2017/18 Europa League, and the dates for the first six matchdays have now been announced.

Berlin - After a seven years absence Hertha will play in the group phase of the UEFA Europa League! “The direct entry for the group stages is a fantastic achievement for Hertha BSC,” said Sporting director Michael Preetz. It means Pal Dardai’s team will face six games against international competition before the end of the year.

The draw for the groups will take place in Monaco on August 25. Teams are separated into four pots depending on the UEFA co-efficient for their country. The top two teams from each of the twelve groups will qualify for the knockout phase, which will also feature those teams who finished third in their Champions League group. From that point on ties are played out over two legs with the best team on aggregate score advancing each time.

Group Stage between August and December:

The first round of group fixtures will take place on Thursday September 14. The other five matchdays will take place on September 28, October 19, November 2 and 23 and December 7. Kick-off times may vary but will usually be 19:00 or 21:05. The round of 32 will be played n the February 15 and 22 before the round of 16 on March 8 and 15. April 5 and 12 will be the Quarterfinal stage before the last four ties on April 26 and May 3. The final, which will take place in Lyon in France, is set for May 16 2018.
