John Brooks to join Wolfsburg next season

Hertha BSC has today announced centre-back John Brooks will leave the club at the end of June. The American will play his football for VfL Wolfsburg next season.
Berlin- Hertha BSC have accepted John Brooks’s request for a transfer to VfL Wolfsburg. “In the past few days we have had intense discussions with all those involved. John has made his wish to move clear. We were reluctant to let such a homegrown player move but we have found a solution which suits Hertha BSC,” said sporting director Michael Preetz. “We wish John all the best for the future and thank him for all of his efforts in a Hertha shirt over the years.”
Born in Berlin, Brooks moved Hertha 03 as a 14-year-old into the Hertha youth side, going on to earn a full Blue-White contract in 2011. He made his full debut in Bundesliga 2 under Jos Luhukay. Following promotion with Hertha Brooks made his Bundesliga debut the next season and scored his first goal in the 6-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Under Pal Dardai the American morphed into a stalwart in the middle of the Hertha defence. In Brooks’ 130 games for Hertha BSC he scored eight goals.
A quick re-union
After surviving relegation via the play-offs this week Wolfsburg will play Hertha twice again next season, meaning Brooks will likely return to the Olympiastadion in the next 12 months. The fee agreed between the two clubs for the 24-year-old is undisclosed.
