Berlin/Tychy - The under-21 Germany national team can still dream of a European title. Stefan Kuntz’s men won a pulsating semi-final on Tuesday evening - defeating England 4-3 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw could not be settled after injury time. “I am so proud of the team, They were world class tonight,” said Kuntz after the game. New Hertha signing Davie Selke opened the scoring before the break only for Demarai Gray to equalise. Tammy Abraham gave England the lead before Felix Platte equalised to send the game into extra time. Julian Pollersbeck was the hero in the shootout, saving two spot kicks to send his side through. 
Stark and Selke pick up innjuries 
Niklas Stark, who was named in the original starting eleven was injured in the warm up and had to sit the game out, while Selke picked up a knockout midway through the second half and was replaced by goalscorer Platte. 
Final on Friday
The Germans held their nerve from 12 yards out and were rewarded for their strong performance on the night. Despite Yannick Gerhardt’s miss, Pollersbeck was able save efforts from Abraham and Nathan Redmond to send Germany into delirium and a return to the final they were last in 2009. The tournament’s showpiece will take place on Friday at 20:45CEST when Germany will play the winner of the second semi-final between Spain and Italy.
