Hello, Schladming!

Berlin- Last year’s training camp in Schladming had to be cancelled due to Hertha’s Europa League qualification commitments, but with their passage to the group stages already secured for 2017/18, the Blue Whites can enjoy a few days in Steiermark as they fine tune their preparations for the comin season. “We want to do a lot of ball work and iron out some of the tactics,” said Pal Dardai. After arriving on Monday morning, the first training session is due to take place at 16:30, before sessions at 10:00 and 16:30 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 25 players have made the journey from the capital to the idyllic setting, known for its mountains views and fresh air. Julian Schieber (recovering), Niklas Stark (not yet fully fit)and Davie Selke (knee) have not travelled. Jordan Torunarigha and Sebastian Langkamp have joined their teammates despite only training individually of late, while Thomas Kraft is also present after training with a mask due to a broken bone in his nose.
Two friendlies
Hertha will be able to put their new tactical work into practice twice during the week, as a friendly with Azerbaijan’s Neftchi Baku has been organised for Wednesday August 2 at 18:00 before a meeting with Galatasary on Saturday at 17:00CEST. “They will be two very interesting friendlies against two international clubs,” said Dardai. Both matches will be preceeded by a 10am training session. The trip back to Berlin will be on Sunday, and the squad will have Monday and Tuesday off. “The players will need a short break because the run-in to Christmas is a long and hard one,” explained Dardai.
DFB Pokal opener in Rostock
Wednesday August 9 will see Dardai and his team beging preparations for the first competitive game of the season away at Hansa Rostock in the first round of the DFB Pokal. The game will take place on Monday August 14 at 20:45 CEST.
