Europa League draw on Friday
Europa League draw on Friday

Berlin – Hertha supporters’ eyes will all turn to Monaco this weekend as the club will feature on the European stage for the first time since the 2009-10 season. The draw for the group stage will take place on Friday, with the capital club waiting to find out who they will encounter.
Hertha in draw pot 2?
There are four draw pots arranged by UEFA in total, from which the 12 groups will be drawn. So it’s possible for Berlin to be drawn into a blockbuster group with opponents like Arsenal, Nice, with former Hertha head coach Lucien Favre or SK Slavia Prague. “I’d love to get drawn against some strong opponents from England, Spain or Italy. That would surely make for some very interesting matches,” said captain Vedad Ibisevic on his hopes for the draw.
It will only be known which teams Pál Dárdai’s men could face after the end of the play-off second-leg matches on Thursday evening (24th August). Only then will it be certain which teams are in each draw pot. Which pot Berlin’s ball will end up in is still unclear – it could be either be in pot 2 (quite likely) or pot 4 (less likely).
First games in September
The first group stage matches will be played on 14th September. 28th September, 19th October, 2nd November and 23rd November are the subsequent matchdays before all 48 teams contest their final games on 7th December. Europa League matches are always scheduled for Thursdays and the kick-off times are 19:00 and 21:05 CEST. The round of 32 is scheduled for 15th and 22nd February. After the round of 16 (8th and 15th March), quarterfinals (5th and 12th April) and semi-finals (26th April and 3rd May), two teams will progress to the final on 16th May in Lyon, France.
