Darida’s wonder-strike counts for nothing
Darida’s wonder-strike counts for nothing

On Friday, Rune Jarstein, Peter Pekarik and Ondrej Duda won with their respective teams but Vladimir Darida was unable to beat Germany.
Berlin – On Friday evening, the next round of international games saw mixed success for Hertha’s participating players. Vladimir Darida netted an unbelievable goal but left empty handed from the Czech Republic’s tie against Germany as his side were defeated 2-1. Timo Werner put Germany in the lead before Darida equalised with an absolute peach of a strike. However, Mats Hummels’ late header ensured Czech Republic took no points in Prague. “It’s disappointing of course. We put in a lot of effort and played well so it hurts to lose after such a good performance”, said Darida after the tie. Even if the defeat has dampened the team’s spirits, Czech Republic can still qualify for the World Cup.
Jarstein, Pekarik and Duda win their matches
The result for Hertha’s other international representatives was very different. Rune Jarstein kept a clean sheet as Norway won 2-0 against Azerbaijan so Lars Lagerbäck’s side have nine points and have a chance to qualify for the World Cup still.
Peter Pekarik and Ondrej Duda also had successful evenings as Slovakia narrowly defeated Slovenia 1-0 to climb to second spot in Group F.

Kalou in Gabon, Gibraltar awaits Ibisevic
World Cup qualifiers are also taking place over the weekend too. Salomon Kalou played in the Ivory Coast’s qualifier versus Gabon. Ivory Coast have four points from two games to top Group C.
A day later, on Sunday, Vedad Ibisevic’s Bosnia will take on Gibraltar, while the Netherlands and Karim Rekik face Bulgaria.
