Berlin- Hertha management and players react to the draw against Werder Bremen
Pál Dárdai: The first 20 minutes were somewhat crazy, but leading before the break did us the world of good. We needed to get that second half goal but instead conceded the equalizer. And then we had Rune to thank for not going further behind. We could also have won it with Salomon at the end. Overall we have to take the result because this is not the stage of the season to picking up nothing. I’m pleased with our start to the season. I’d like to praise Bibiana Steinhaus for allowing the advantage leading to our goal. That showed her class and experience.
Marvin Plattenhardt: We were well on top after the first twenty minutes and deserved the lead. We kept control of the game in the second half but gave away a silly goal. We were a little stronger in the end and could even have won the game with a bit more luck. We’ll need to be that little bit more resolute and the back in the coming games.
Per Skjelbred: That was 90 minutes of full on work. They were an awkward opponent, particularly at the back. We had a few chances, they had a few chances, a point is a deserved result.
Vedad Ibisevic:
Werder Bremen are no mugs and we are not FC Barcelona. But of course we wanted to win today. We had the game under control a lot better after taking the lead. I have a huge amount of respect for Bibiana and her performance today. I would have no problem with more women refereeing Bundesliga games.
Sebastian Langkamp: They started the game a little better than we did so we will take a point. Our understanding and use of space was not the best today. We weren’t our best today but we make no excuses. I am happy for Bibiana Steinhaus, I thought she had a good game and I have always hoped there would be more female officials in the Bundesliga. We are looking forward to Thursday now and we can go into the game with Bilbao on a high.
