"It had draw written all over it"

The Hertha squad react to Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Mainz 05.
Mainz- Hertha left Mainz empty handed following a second defeat of the season on Matchday 6.
Pál Dárdai: Congratulations to Mainz for the win. We had everything under control in the first half, and we were playing a very good game of football away from home. The game went exactly as we planned, we got to the byline on both sides but the final pass was lacking. The second half was a bit of a battle. We showed we had a lot of legs and put in the miles, the game had draw written all over it. We presented them with an opportunity and they took full advantage. If you have more goals to your name you deserve to win. Vedad had a good chance to get us level but it can be hard when you’ve been up front on your own all game and then all of a sudden you get the ball it can be difficult. We have to reocer quickly and move the ball better in the next few games. Everything from threat in front of goal to aggression needs to be bettered.
Sebastian Langkamp: If we couldn’t win, the least we deserved was a draw. We executed our plan perfectly up until half-time. We had control of the game, because we were not letting them create chances. We knew they were under pressure before the game, but apart from Vedad’s and Valentin’s chances we didn’t muster many emails on goal. If the referee and the VAR officials have said the same thing then we have to accept that. But that makes the loss frustrating because we had more in us.
Valentin Stocker: I think either team could have knicked it in all honesty, but we were thje masters of our downfall. I thought we were the better team in the first half, even if there were not many clear cut chances. When you fall behind it’s always tough because you have to take more risks. I think after the penalty against us the referee could have maybe taken another look at the Langkamp’s claim in the box and seen that there was perhaps something up.
