Plattenhardt signs long-term contract
On Friday, Hertha BSC extended the Germany international’s contract beyond 2020.

A crucial part of the Hertha BSC squad, an undisputed top-performer, an absolute role model: Marvin Plattenhardt has been playing for the capital city club since 2014, and will be doing so for the coming years as well. The club has extended the left-back’s contract beyond 2020. "The value of having Marvin Plattenhardt in the team is well-known. He has developed fantastically in recent years, and is now even a Germany international," commented Michael Preetz. The sporting director is convinced that the future holds success for Plattenhardt and the club. "We have set ourselves targets that we want to reach together."
Yet another top performer signs contract extension
The 25-year-old was visibly pleased after signing the contract: "I would say that I am now at home in Berlin. The club is fantastic, the city is great. I feel very comfortable here and I have everything I need," said Plattenhardt. The full-back now joins Vedad Ibisevic, Salomon Kalou, Mitchell Weiser and Niklas Stark as the next Hertha player to commit to the club on a long-term basis. "The fact that lots of the lads have recently signed contract extensions was a major factor for me. When you see how we’ve developed in the last few years: everyone is maturing and constantly improving under the coaching team. That’s a good sign," said the former Nuremberg man, explaining the reasons for his decision.
Plattenhardt has played 91 games for Hertha since joining the club in 2014. With his gifted left foot, the full-back has scored five goals and provided eleven assists in the process. After sitting out of the game against Östersund, the three times Germany international and Confederations Cup winner is now available to Pál Dárdai for Sunday’s clash with Bayern Munich.
