First training session of the week with 29 players involved

Hertha started their week of preparations for Luhansk and Wolfsburg with 25 outfield players and four goalkeepers taking part.
Hamburg negotiated and a quick breather and it is now straight into the next batch of fixtures for Hertha, with two games again this week. On Monday afternoon (30.10.2017), Pál Dárdai’s men began preparing for their home game on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League against Zorya Luhansk followed by the trip to VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday. The Blue-Whites started their first training session of the new week with the momentum of three points from the weekend pushing them on, with birthday boy Peter Pekarik being serenaded by the whole squad.
The only players missing were the ones still out with injury – Vladimir Darida, Mathew Leckie and Julian Schieber. “Vladi still needs time and I hope Leckie will be back for us after the international break,” Dárdai explained. The Blue-Whites trained in the cold autumnal sun, moving from passing exercises to a game on a small pitch. “We have a few days and we want to work on keeping the ball and more things becoming second nature to us. We’re still getting used to this system and so we want to use the time we have wisely.
Luhansk and Wolfsburg in Hertha’s sights
As in the previous weeks, the coaching staff have included both games in their planning for the week. “We will rotate against Luhanks because we want to get something from the game against Wolfsburg too. It’ll be important for us to get the first goal,” Dárdai explained. One player will definitely be out for the clash against the Ukrainian side – Vedad Ibisevic picked up his third yellow card in the away game against Luhansk and so he is suspended.
Hertha are training twice more behind closed doors before the Europa League match on Thursday. The Blue-Whites will then train in an open session on Friday before another behind-closed-doors session on Saturday before their away game in Wolfsburg.
