"We showed character"
"We showed character"

Berlin– Hertha players and coaches react to the 4-2 home defeat to Gladbach on Saturday night.
Pál Dárdai: I’m not going to blame my team. We didn’t defend the first goal well and then the penalty went against us and the wonder strike put us three behind. After the first twenty minutes we played well. I am proud because the team showed character. We gave everything to turn the game around but they were very quick and effective. We have lost our home strength a bit, so collecting points in Köln wlil be essential.
Sebastian Langkamp: We knew it would be tough against them if we couldn’t use the wings to get in good positions. We had a chance to stop play with a foul much earlier in the mood. The second goal also came from a defensive error and the third you have to say was just too good. If we had got to 2-3at the break we might have made it even more exciting at the break. It was sloppy to concede the fourth after getting the second. That deflated us.
Karim Rekik: If you look at the first twenty minutes then they deserved to win. But we were better afterwards. We worked so many chances but sometimes it just doesn’t fall for you in Football and today was like that for us. Stindl’s strike was so close to me and very hard. You don’t really have time to think where you are putting your hands at times like that, and sometimes they get in the way of the route to goal. Even the Gladbach players were surprised they got a penalty. We have to clear this from our minds and go again.
Davie Selke: It is always a shock when you are 0-3 down so quickly. We did well after that and had so many chances to get into the game even more. We did well and played okay on the whole. They were obviously looking for the counter attack – and they had a lot of quality. The fourth goal was the sucker punch. Working with Vedad Ibisevic was successful, even though we haven’t played many games. If we can get to know each other better then it will start to work even better.
