Schieber returns to training

After months on the sidelines, Julian Schieber returned to team training on Wednesday 29th November, but that wasn’t the only good news of the day
This week’s opening training session on Wednesday was actually nothing out of the ordinary. For one man, however, Julian Schieber, the 80 minute session was something special: "I have been working towards this moment. 288 days I have waited to train with the team again. I’ll have to settle in again, get a good feel of things, but I am optimistic," said the forward after his first training session since sustaining a heavy knee injury in early February. The 28-year-old was welcomed back to training by supporters with a small round of applause. "It’s nice to have him back. Now he’ll need to train for a couple of weeks first. I would love him to be able to help us out on the pitch again soon," said Pál Dárdai.

For Pál Dárdai and his team, there was more news to lift the spirits: Niklas Stark also made his return to team training having recovered from his calf-injury. "He is fit and could play this weekend," said the head coach. The defensive specialist, who was ruled out of the recent games against Gladbach, Bilbao and Köln, has a positive outlook: "I wasn’t out for that long in the end," he said. On a more sombre note, Sebastian Langkamp will also be out of action alongside Vladimir Darida and Valentin Stocker, after being taken off in Köln following a collision with Rune Jarstein. "We’ll have to wait and see; the next two days will determine whether he will be fit to play on Sunday," said the boss.
On said Sunday, Hertha welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Olympiastadion. The Berlin boys will be looking to build on their victory at the weekend with another three points against the team in ninth and only two points ahead of Hertha. After such a long time out, it is, of course, too soon for Julian Schieber to feature in the penultimate home game of the calendar year. "I’ve trained with the team again now. It’s too early to speak about playing, but obviously I have my sights set on that," said Hertha’s number 16.
