Berlin – Hertha BSC are once again looking towards the future by securing the services of young talent Sidney Friede in a long team basis. Sidney has impressed us in the youth set-up and has been training with the first team for some time. He’s left a good impression and deserved this contract. We’re looking forward to seeing him develop here,” said Michael Preetz. The 19-year-old centre-back joins the likes of Maximilian Mittelstädt, Jordan Torunarigha, Arne Maier, Julius Kade, Florian Baak and Palko Dardai as youth players being given the chance to step up to the first team.
Friede joined the club in 2011 and has been part of the youth set-up since, For the U17’s, he scored six goals in 30 games from central midfield and, at U19s level, he knocked up 17 goals and 14 assists in 52 games.
