Maier out, Rekik and Stark fit again
Arne Maier has developed glandular fever and will therefore not be available over the coming weeks. There’s positive news to report in the cases of Karim Rekik and Niklas Stark, however.

Berlin - Both Hertha BSC and Arne Maier were hit with some tough news on Thursday (26.04.2018), as it was announced that the 19-year-old will be out for a while due to glandular fever. The midfielder has been kept out due to the infection since the beginning of the week, and after further examinations, that infection was revealed to be glandular fever. There was positive news for Karim Rekik though, as the Dutchman returned to team training on Thursday. “Karim took a full part in the session, but we still have to wait and see how he does in training on Friday to determine whether he’s ready to play or not,” said Pál Dárdai when asked about the central defender’s prospects of being in contention against FC Augsburg. It could well be that Hertha’s number four will be accompanied by Niklas Stark in central defence on matchday 32. The 23-year-old is fit again after the broken nose he suffered against Cologne. “Niklas isn’t feeling any pain and has taken a full part in all of our training sessions this week,” said Dárdai. After suffering a bruised cheekbone and a mild concussion in the game against Frankfurt last week, Davie Selke also joined back up with the rest of his teammates and is an option for Saturday.
