Dilrosun enjoying the hard work
Dilrosun enjoying the hard work

The difference between the Bundesliga and the Premier League has certainly become apparent to him during pre-season. “Training here is definitely tougher than in England. However, I know that I need to be at that level physically if I want to survive in the Bundesliga. There will still be opponents who are stronger than me – in that case, I will have to compensate for that with my technical ability,” said Dilrosun with a smirk. He managed to get through Saturday afternoon’s draining session just fine though. “Yeah, that was very tough, but I’m sure they will get even harder.”
Learning from some of the best
Spells at Ajax and Man City are listed on Javairo Dilrosun’s CV – both big clubs. It wasn’t just first-class training he received there, but he also had the chance to work with some of the best players and coaches around. “When Pep Guardiola explains something, you understand it straightaway. There were also so many great players that you could learn so much from, like David Silva or Kevin De Bruyne,” explained the new Hertha signing. The most important thing for him now though is to get minutes under his belt. That’s one of the reasons the Netherlands youth international moved to the Blue-Whites in the first place. “The key factor was game time – I have to be playing. I can do that at a very high level in Berlin as well.”
Some keen observers have already likened Dilrosun to Salomon Kalou, and the pair are becoming fast friends too. “He’s teaching me a lot and is explaining that I need to do. I can learn a lot from him,” said the youngster. There’s a lot for him to learn after all. “I still need to learn German, even though I took it at school. Fortunately, a lot of people in Germany also speak English. Apart from Kalou, Karim Rekik and Vedad Ibisevic are doing a lot to help me settle in as well.” Dilrosun already has his first goal in Hertha colours, albeit only in a friendly, but he has other aims. “I want to get as many minutes as I can and help the team with goals and assists so that we can finish as high up the table as possible.” If he can do that, he won’t be the only one in Berlin smiling.
