“Go and make a goal”

“Go and make a goal”

Marvin Plattenhardt, Valentino Lazaro and debutant Dennis Jastrzembski give their thoughts following the victory in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.

The new season got off to a flying start with a 2-1 win over third league team Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. Despite the two-division difference between the teams, it was, as expected, no easy task for Hertha. As a result Valentino Lazaro, Marvin Plattenhardt and Dennis Jastrzembki were happy to progress to the second round. herthabsc.de rounds up the reactions:
Valentino Lazaro: The DFB-Pokal is something very unique; today’s game proved that. We expected a tough fixture and the beginning of the game proved us right. In the first half we played some good football and deserved to take the lead into the break. In the second half we lost our rhyme a bit and the equaliser came as a result, but we found a response almost immediately.
Marvin Plattenhardt: It’s a great feeling to have got a goal in the first competitive game of the season. If I didn’t manage to catch the ball so well on my foot, I’m sure it would have ended up somewhere in the stands. However, the most important thing is that we are in the second round.
Dennis Jastrzembski: I’m feeling very good indeed! I’m happy to have made my debut. Before Pál Dárdai subbed me on he told me to get an assist – I got it. I’m also glad that Vedad Ibisevic scored. Now we are just looking forward.
