“An incredibly important win”
“An incredibly important win”

Ondrej Duda, Rune Jarstein and Valentino Lazaro gave their reactions following the 2-0 victory over Schalke. Topics include: the run of play, achievements, and what this win means.
Gelsenkirchen - On Sunday (02.09.18) Hertha got their first win in Gelsenkirchen for almost 14 years with a 2-0 victory over FC Schalke 04. The man of the moment was Ondrej Duda who bagged both goals, securing a second win of the season for Hertha. Herthabsc.de gives you the goalscorers, Rune Jarstein’s and Valentino Lazaro’s post-match reactions:
Ondrej Duda: I think this is the first time I’ve scored twice in a game in my whole career. It was an incredibly important win for us in a very difficult game. We defended well, but in the end it was Rune who saved us again. Everyone knows that my first two years in Belin didn’t go as well as planned. I’m focused on playing well though and helping my team. I was happy with my preparation before this season and of course I’m delighted to have such a good start to the season.
Rune Jarstein: Towards the end it was all a bit hectic at the back, but overall we defended well. I think the whole team fought really hard and the win was well deserved. Tactically we were superb. Ondrej got two fantastic goals and I’m very happy for him. He has been strong in pre-season and in training, particularly in his attacking play. Thankfully, he managed to show this quality in a game. Overall though, it was a team win. We needed eleven players to beat Schalke here today.
Valentino Lazaro: It was about time we beat Schalke. It’s a dream start to the season and we can go into the international break with clear heads. Everyone is happy for Ondrej because he had a tough year last year. Our game plan suited him perfectly. His job was to disrupt Rudy’s build-up play. We also knew Javairo had a lot of quality and after today’s performance we know he won’t giving up his place easily.
