A break for Torunarigha

After further examinations on Monday, it has been revealed that the defender suffered an Achilles injury on Saturday and will be out until further notice.

Until Jordan Torunarigha was taken off the pitch due to picking up an injury, he was Hertha’s dominant presence at the back. Torunarigha had fought many times for the ball and when taken off in the 74th minute, was visibly hurt. The 21-year-old was diagnosed by a specialist on Monday. “It is a massive shame for Jordan, especially when he was playing so well. I hope that he can get back on the pitch quickly. We will have to work out how to deal with this problem,” said head coach Pál Dárdai.

The first step for Torunarigha is to keep his foot immobilised and in a protective boot. “This is certainly a bitter time for Jordan and of course for us too because he has done really well so far. We will give him all the support we can give him to get him back as soon as possible,” said Michael Preetz on the injury.
