Friendly victory in Babelsberg

The Berliners used the international break to play a friendly against Regionalliga side Babelsberg and won 4-1.

On Thursday, Hertha BSC beat SV Babelsberg 4-1 in a friendly in front of 2,204 people. Davie Selke scored twice whilst Maurice Covic and Pascal Köpke also got on the scoresheet.
The Berliners got off to a flying start as Selke put the visitors 1-0 up in the third minute after good work from Köpke. Selke and Köpke but then had further chances but some good defensive work from the Babelsberg players ensured the score stayed at 1-0. However, the home side used their first real chance of the game to equalise as Tobias Dombrowa finished nicely, leaving Jonathan Klinsmann no chance of saving the shot.
Substitute Covic changes the game
Both teams started quietly after the break with few chances for both sides. However in the 72nd minute, the Berliners regained their lead as substitute Covic scored. Four minutes before the final whistle, Selke scored once again with a fine shot from just inside the box. Selke then set up Köpke to make it 4-1 after a very good counter attack from the away side.
“We started well, but then overcomplicated things but in the end the result is good,” summed up Pál Dárdai. “We won and scored some nice goals.” On Friday, Hertha will train again before having the weekend off. The players will start preparation for the game against SC Freiburg next Tuesday.
