Germany U21s qualify for Euros and Dilrosun scores for Holland

The Germany U21s qualified for the Euros. Baak and Dilrosun score. ‘Tino’ and Austria win. A round-up of the Berliners in their international games.

Mission successful! The Germany U21 team successfully qualified on Friday evening for the 2019 U21 Euros in Italy and San Marino after beating Norway 2-1. Cedric Teuchert and Luca Waldschmidt scored the goals for Germany. “We played very well in the first half and we had to make sure that we didn’t get complacent. The victory is well deserved,” said a happy Kuntz. Arne Maier played the full 90 minutes but Maximilian Mittelstädt was not in the matchday squad. However, the left-back will be hoping to make his debut next Tuesday against Ireland. Kuntz announced that he would rotate his team for the game as they have already qualified.

Baak in the centre of action

Earlier in the evening, the Germany U20 team were playing in a friendly against the Netherlands. The DFB team drew 1-1 with the Netherlands. Florian Baak put his team ahead in the 21st minute before the Dutch equalised two minutes later. Baak even earned a penalty for his team just before the final whistle, but Salih Özcan failed to convert it. "In the end, a few centimetres was the difference to winning and drawing but I am satisfied with our performance", summarized coach Meikel Schönweitz. Palko Dárdai was on the bench and did not come on. On Tuesday they will play in a friendly against Switzerland.

Dilrosun scores for the Netherlands

Javairo Dilrosun has been a sensation since joining the club this summer, with lively performances, goals and assists. His good form earned him a call-up to the Netherlands U21s team and he participated in the game against Latvia as the Dutch won 3-0 with Dilrosun getting on the scoresheet and claiming an assist. The Ukraine U21 team will have to be prepared on Tuesday when they come up against the Dutch.

Finally, it was also a successful evening for Valentino Lazaro. Austria beat Northern Ireland 1-0 with Marko Arnautović scoring the only goal of the game. Austria and ‘Tino’ will play next against Denmark on Tuesday evening.
