Strong debut for Mittelstädt

The majority of the Berliners celebrated victories in their international games.
In total ten Berliners were in action on Monday and Tuesday during the international break. There were many victories for the players in action. Mathew Leckie started and played 73 minutes in their 4-0 victory over Kuwait. Florian Baak and Palko Dárdai were also victorious with the Germany U20s as they beat Switzerland 3-2. Dárdai wore the captain’s armband and played the whole game. “The first half an hour we played very good football, scored goals and everything clicked. It is thanks to our good development that we were able to go 3-0 up in the first half. Even though they got two goals back, we made changes, took control of the game and so deserved the win,” said Schönweitz after the game.
Mittelstädt puts in a good performance on his debut
The Hertha youngster put in a good performance on his debut as Germany U20s beat Ireland 2-0. “I am very happy today,” said Stefan Kuntz, the head coach. “We were able to give a lot of the boys a chance on the pitch. You could see every player gave 100% on the pitch today.” Javairo Dilrosun played 60 minutes of his game and also won as the Netherlands U21 team beat Ukraine 3-0. Ondrej Duda and Peter Pekarik drew with Sweden in a friendly. Ondrej Duda came on in the final quarter of the game whilst Peter Pekarik was an unused substitute. Valentino Lazaro and Austria however fell to a 2-0 defeat to Denmark although Rune Jarstein was able to celebrate a clean sheet and a 1-0 victory with Norway over Bulgaria in the UEFA Nations League.
The Berliners will return to training on Thursday (18/10/18) and begin preparation for their home game against SC Freiburg on Sunday (21/10/18, 15:30 CEST).
