“An indescribable feeling!”

“An indescribable feeling!”

Vedad Ibisevic and Arne Maier spoke to the media after their 2-0 victory in Darmstadt in the DFB-Pokal.

It was a difficult game for the Berliners in Darmstadt as they had to fight through the whole 90 minutes. However, it was a fully deserved victory as two goals from substitutes ensured a place in the round of 16 for Hertha BSC. Both Vedad Ibisevic and Arne Maier expressed their satisfaction at going through to the next round of the cup.

Arne Maier: We played well today. We knew that Darmstadt are a difficult team to beat, are strong on the counter and will always fight for every ball. In the second half we were more creative and made chances to score. It was a well-earned victory. The whole team played better in the second half and everyone fought hard today. Before the game, we were stuck in traffic but it was not a problem. We do not want a specific team in the next round and we just look forward to finding out who it will be. Of course, a home game would be good too.

Vedad Ibisevic: It was an indescribable feeling, to score so fast after coming on. I think I scored with my first touch of the ball and it is the first time that that has happened in my career. I just happened to follow in from Duda’s shot and it fell into my path. I was not supposed to come on but it was a difficult game, a real tough cup tie and we just needed that goal. After the goal, it was easier for us. We are a team and so if players are needed from the bench, they need to be ready.
