Last minute goal and a good debut

Last minute goal and a good debut

Hertha’s international players were to celebrate several last minute goals on Saturday (17/11). Muhammed Kiprit played well on his debut for Turkey U21s.

Berlin – Last minute goals in football are always something special – even in friendlies. Several Hertha players on Saturday were able to pick up wins on international duty. The first fixture of the day saw Mathew Leckie play for Australia, drawing 1-1 with South Korea. Hertha’s number 11 started and played 85 minutes. “We put in a good performance and never gave up,” stated Leckie’s teammate and goalscorer Massimo Luongo. “We managed to put our plan B into action well in the second half. There are always things to improve as a team, but we are making clear progress.” The next fixture for Australia is on Tuesday (20/11) against Lebanon in Sydney. The game will kick off at 9:30 CET.

Despite a good performance: Jastrzembski and Germany U19s slip to a narrow defeat

Guido Streichsbier also saw improvements in his team: The Germany U19s coach felt that his team put in a “really good performance”, but still lost 1-0 to the Netherlands in the four-nation tournament in Armenia. Redan Daishawn scored the goal for the Dutch after a good move. Dennis Jastrzembski came on in the second half and helped his side to push for the equaliser. But the youngster couldn’t help prevent his team’s defeat. “It’s frustrating that we couldn’t find the equaliser. My team played very well in the second half. We were aggressive and got forwards well. We want to get our rewards by beating Armenia,” explained coach Streichsbier. This game will take place on Monday (19/11) at 11:00 CET.

Strong debut: Kiprit makes an impact as sub

Muhmammed Kiprit’s debut for Turkey U21s went extremely well. His side won 2-0 against Scotland U21s in Murcia, Spain. Kiprit was brought on as a sub at the start of the second half and scored in the 90th minute to seal his team’s victory.  Turkey U21s will face Hungary U21s on Wednesday (21/11). More Hertha players will be in action between Sunday and Tuesday.
