New training week begins with slight scare

Hertha BSC started their preparations for Saturday’s trip to VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday.

After two consecutive Bundesliga victories, Hertha BSC have started a new week of training as they look to continue their winning streak away at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday. The squad participated in an intensive training session on Tuesday and there was a slight scare for the Blue-Whites. Marko Grujić had to leave the session early after suffering a knock in a tackle in one of the drills. “There was a lot of good aggression shown in training. The players trained to a high level and showed a lot of passion. It is exactly what we wanted to see from the boys,” explained Hertha coach Pál Dárdai immediately after training. “It was very unfortunate what happened today. We will now have to wait and see with Marko.”
Dárdai led a session without the injured Marius Gersbeck, Lukas Klünter, Florian Baak, Derrick Luckassen, Karim Rekik, Niklas Stark and Julius Kade and Grujić left the session early following the scare. Javairô Dilrosun trained individually while Salomon Kalou (minor foot problem) and Mathew Leckie (knee problem) also couldn’t participate. “I’ll take the assumption that Leckie will be able to play on Saturday,” said Dárdai. “Salomon aims to be back in training by Thursday. It is therefore possible that he could play in Stuttgart on Saturday,” added the Hungarian. Thomas Kraft couldn’t train today for private reasons and U23s goalkeeper Niclas Wild replaced him in the senior team training session.
Dárdai will lead two training sessions on Wednesday before one training session on Thursday. Hertha will conclude their preparations for the trip to Stuttgart on Friday before the team from the capital goes in search of a third consecutive win on Saturday afternoon (15:30 CET).
