Hertha eSports kick off the Virtual Bundesliga season!

The “Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship” has arrived! On Wednesday, 16th January. the Hertha BSC eSport Academy will play their first match of this year’s Virtual Bundesliga. The Blue-Whites face FC Augsburg on the opening matchday in an online match of FIFA 19. Three eSports talents scouted by Hertha BSC will represent the club in the competition. 21 year-old Elias ‘EliasN97’ Nerlich will captain the side and compete alongside Eren ‘ErenPyrz030’ Poyraz and Tom ‘Biss0_23’ Bismark. The latter two are both just 17 years old. “Our primary aim is not necessarily to win the title. Additionally, we would like to build up our talent step by step to celebrate further successes in the long term,” said coach Daniel ‘DieHahn’ Brandt regarding Hertha’s plans for the future. He added with a grin: “Nevertheless, we still want to give the established eSport stars a run for their money.”

Hertha launch Twitch channel
Alongside the start of the new Virtual Bundesliga season, Hertha BSC have launched a Twitch channel for the eSport Academy where fans can watch all the Hertha VBL matches live. Furthermore, ProSieben Maxx have secured the broadcasting rights for the Virtual Bundesliga in Germany and will show a match live each Thursday at 20:15 CET. Hertha BSC will make their live TV debut on matchday seven when they face Borussia Mönchengladbach (7th February). Overall, 22 teams are participating in the tournament.
