Preparations for Nürnberg begin

Intensive training and a little scare at Schenckendorffplatz: On Wednesday afternoon, Hertha began preparations for the first game of the Rückrunde.

Hertha’s Bundesliga campaign resumes this weekend with a trip to 1. FC Nürnberg. On Wednesday afternoon, the players took to the training pitches for an intensive session in preparation. Just before home time, everyone was given a scare, as Jordan Torunarigha stayed down injured after a fifty-fifty challenge, cutting his training session short. Afterwards, head coach Pál Dárdai was able to give a sort-of ‘all clear’: "Jordan took a knock to his thigh and it’s difficult to say whether his availability this weekend is in question. We’ll have to wait and see," he explained. "Our medical team will examine Jordan’s injury and treat him accordingly. After that we will see how likely it is that he will be able to play on Sunday," Dárdai went on. Jordan himself gave some words of reassurance: "It’s not half as bad as it seems."

Aside from the comments on Torunarigha, Dárdai kept his cards close to his chest regarding a line-up and formation for Sunday’s game against ‘Der Club’: "At the start of the season we played a few games with a back three slash back five. Towards the end of the first half of the season, this was no longer possible due to several players being out injured. Now, we have all our options available again," he revealed. Before the Old Lady sets sail for Nuremberg, Pál and Co. have four more training sessions lined up: On Thursday, a morning run-out behind closed doors will be followed by a session open to the public later in the afternoon at 14:30 CET. The final two stints will be held on Friday and Saturday.
