“With a bit of luck we could have got three points”

After the goalless draw with Hannover 96, there was a general feeling that Hertha BSC had lost out on two points. Nevertheless, this time, the draw was a more satisfying result as 10 man Hertha held Frankfurt to a 0-0 draw. “That was one of our best games since after the winter break,” said Valentino Lazaro.

Maximilian Mittelstädt: Even though we are going through a rough patch, we have shown that we are able to play well against teams like Frankfurt. We have shown the quality that we have. We weren’t as good in the second half, but we are slowly improving with every game. We played well today and could have taken all three points. It was also important however, to come away with a point especially after going one man down – we can be satisfied. The home game against Stuttgart won’t be easy because they need the points but if we play to our strengths with our fans behind us, we will be able to beat them.

Valentino Lazaro: It was a great football game and we can say we have played well in our last few games and have improved going forward. That was one of our best games since after the winter break. We spoke with the coach prior to the game and we concluded that we needed to be more active off the ball. We started well and therefore unsettled their game. We tried to win the ball back quickly. I think it is a good step forward for us and our confidence. I can only give the team praise.

Karim Rekik: It was a good game. Frankfurt didn’t have as much energy on the pitch as expected. That helped us get into the game. We had a few good chances and I had a chance as well, but unfortunately we couldn’t get it in the back of the net. It was one of our better games since the winter break. The result is good for our mentality, as we played well and even though we couldn’t get three points. You could see that we can play well against the stronger teams.

Vedad Ibišević: I was so sure that my header was going to go in. I was surprised when it didn’t go into the back of the net. It is very annoying. We deserved to score a goal and to win this game. We played very well against a team that plays in Europe. We showed that we can stay on par with these teams. Our situation isn’t easy of course, but the boys want to finish the season as well as possible and you could see that today. We want to give the fans a victory or two before the end of the season.
