Eduard Löwen signs for Hertha

The Germany U21 international signs for the ‘Old Lady’ from 1. FC Nürnberg for the 2019/20 season. The 22-year-old has been given a long-term contract.
Berlin – Hertha BSC have made their second signing for the new season: Eduard Löwen signed a long-term deal on Thursday (13/06/19) after Hertha agreed terms with 1. FC Nürnberg. “We have followed Eduard for a long time now. As a youth international, he fits into the category of player we look for: young, talented and not at the end of his development. We’re delighted that he’s chosen to sign for Hertha BSC and are convinced that he will impact our game positively,” commented Michael Preetz on the new central midfielder. “Hertha BSC made it clear that they wanted to sign me and I had a good feeling from the start. I’m now happy to be at the club,” said the 22-year-old. Löwen has recently been preparing for the U21 European Championships with his Germany side in Italy and San Marino – having trained with his future teammates Lukas Klünter, Jordan Torunarigha, Arne Maier and Maximilian Mittelstädt. He could play alongside Maier and Mittelstädt on June 17th against Denmark in Germany’s first game of the tournament.
Löwen spent seven years playing in the 1. FC Kaiserslautern academy. After a season at 1. FC Saarbrücken, he then moved to 1. FC Nürnberg in 2016. He made his debut for Nürnberg in 2017 in the 2. Bundesliga, going on to make 43 appearances in the second tier, as well as contributing five goals and six assists. His Nürnberg side were then promoted, meaning he tasted Bundesliga action for the first time last season, appearing 22 times, scoring three and creating three for his teammates.
