Duel against VfB Eichstätt!

Duel against VfB Eichstätt!

Hertha BSC will face the Regionalliga side from Upper Bavaria in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The match will take place between 9th and 12th August.

Berlin – The first opponent of the 2019/20 season is set: Ante Čović’s side will face Regionalliga side VfB Eichstätt in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.
“Eichstätt are a strong side from the Regionalliga Bayern. But, we will obviously face them with the aim of advancing to the next round!” Michael Preetz said about the draw, which was conducted by Nia Künzer, a former footballer and 2003 World Cup winner, and DFB vice-president Peter Frymuth. The duel between the two will take place on the weekend of 9th to 12th August—one week before the start of the Bundesliga season.
In total, 64 teams will take part in the 77th edition of the DFB-Pokal and will dream of reaching the final in Berlin’s Olympiastadion on 23rd May 2020. Ten clubs from the third division, as well as 12 sides from the Regionlliga, five from the Oberliga, and one sixth division side qualified for the competition, in addition to all the current Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 sides. The second round will be contested by the 32 winning teams at the end of October (29th to 30th October). Hertha could potentially advance to the round of 16, which would only take place next year (4th to 5th February 2020).
