Ondrej Duda signs new deal with Hertha

The capital club have agreed an early contract extension for the Slovakian midfielder. The 24-year-old has been with the Blue-Whites since 2016.

Ondrej Duda will continue to wear Hertha colours in the coming years, with the Slovakia international agreeing an early contract extension with the Old Lady. “After a difficult start plagued by injuries, Ondrej was able to demonstrate his true quality last season and had a hand in more goals than anyone else at the club. Nevertheless, we cannot forget that he is still a young player at 24 with a long road ahead of him. We back him to develop even further and are delighted that he is happy to do that here,” said sporting director Michael Preetz.

Hertha’s number 10, who will begin pre-season training on 3rd July, is thrilled to be continuing his journey in Berlin. “It certainly wasn’t easy for me at the start, but now I really feel at home here at Hertha, so it was a simple decision for me. We want to keep pushing on as a team and I want to play my part in that,” said Duda.

Duda joined the Blue-Whites from Legia Warsaw in Poland three years ago, but initially struggled with injuries. He only made 20 Bundesliga appearances across his first two seasons, but the recent campaign finally saw him stay injury-free, and the attacking midfielder took advantage. Duda scored eleven goals and assisted a further six in 32 top-flight matches. He has made a total of 61 competitive appearances for the capital club, scoring 12 goals and setting up seven.
