Hertha BSC have signed 18-year-old Daishawn Redan from Chelsea.

Berlin – Hertha have signed a promising attacking talent: Daishawn Redan joined the club on Thursday (18/07/19). The Dutch striker has moved to Berlin from Chelsea to sign a long-term contract at the club. “Daishawn is quick, powerful and is exactly the kind of player we want. He has a lot of potential and considering his age, we are now in the best position in the transfer market,” explained Michael Preetz. “I’m happy that the transfer to Hertha BSC has now gone through. I can’t wait to get underway,” said an excited Redan, who will train with Ante Čović’s team, but initially play for the U23s.

The striker, who can also play as a number ten or on the left wing, came through the Ajax youth academy – just like Javairo Dilrosun. Redan moved to Chelsea in 2017 at the age of 16, having just won the Dutch U17s Championship. The attacker then scored 18 goals in 29 games for Chelsea’s U18s & U19s, adding a further seven assists. He also scored nine times and assisted five goals in the UEFA Youth League. His teams also won a Championship and a domestic cup. He then stepped up to play for Chelsea’s U23s in January 2018, netting 14 goals in 34 competitive appearances. Redan has also picked up 51 caps for the Nertherlands’ youth sides (scoring 42 goals). He also captained their U17s side to the European Championship last year.
