Darida and Czech Republic qualify for EUROs

Three Herthaner were in action on Thursday (14.11.19). While the Czech Republic and Vladimir Darida secured their spot at next summer’s European Championship, Daishawn Redan scored for ‘Jong Oranje.’

Berlin – Vladimir Darida and the Czech Republic successfully qualified for the 2020 European Championship on Thursday evening (14.11.19). The semi-finalists from EURO 2004 came back from 1-0 down to defeat Kosovo 2-1. Darida assisted Alex Kral’s winning goal by sending in a corner-kick.
Daishawn Redan and Javairo Dilrosun also started the international break off with a win. Both Herthaner were on the winning side as the Netherlands U21s stormed to victory over Gibraltar (6-0). Redan was subbed on for Dilrosun just after the hour mark and was able to score the sixth goal for the Dutch side shortly before the final whistle. With the win, ‘Jong Oranje’ continue to sit at the top of Group G.
Norway with slim chance of qualifying
The next Herthaner will be in action on Friday evening (15.11.19). Rune Jarstein and Norway need a win at home against the Faroe Islands, who are at the bottom of their qualifying group, in order to keep their hopes of qualifying alive. Norway are currently in fourth place, four points behind second-place Sweden. “On paper, we’re the clear favourites. Even though our chances of qualifying are slim, we still want to win, and I hope that we give it our all on the pitch,” said Norway coach Lars Lagerbäck. Meanwhile, Julian Albrecht and Lazar Samardzic will be in action with the Germany U19s for the second time this week. Following a 2-1 win against Portugal, head coach Guido Streichsbier’s side are looking to continue their good form against upcoming opponents Norway.
