Jarstein wins – An exciting Tuesday evening

Jarstein wins – An exciting Tuesday evening

Norway win their final qualifier against Malta, Germany U19s draw and crucial matches for Stark on his national team debut, as well as for Slovakia.

Berlin – The highly coveted second placed position was already out of reach for Rune Jarstein and Norway ahead of their final group stage game against Malta on Monday evening. However, Joshua King (7’) and Alexander Sörloth’s (62’) goals in a 2-1 win meant that they finished in third place in Group F with 17 points, behind Spain (26) and Sweden (21). The dream of reaching the European Championships is not yet over for Hertha’s goalkeeper, as they will be hoping to qualify for the competition via the playoffs, which take place in March 2020. German youth team duo Lazar Samardzic and Julian Albrecht were also in action on Monday night as they draw 1-1 away at Northern Ireland thanks to an equaliser in added time.

Stark hopes to make debut, Duda and Pekarik fight for qualification

As we approach the end of the final international break of 2019, four Blue-Whites are in action on Tuesday evening (19/11/19). Niklas Stark hopes to finally make his debut for the German national team on his tenth attempt, as they take on Northern Ireland at 20:45 CET in Frankfurt. “At the moment I’m thinking he will play. Northern Ireland are really strong in the air so we need to wait to see if he is 100% fit enough to play in this game,” said national team coach Joachim Löw on Stark’s chances of starting. Ondrej Duda and Peter Pekarik are also in action at 20:45 CET as they take on Azerbaijan in their bid for qualification. Slovakia are relying on other results as well as their own to grab second place in their group, and will be hoping that the game between Wales and Hungary ends in a draw. Dedryck Boyata and Belgium will also be looking for the three points in their match against Cyprus, however the pressure is off for the hosts as they have already qualified for this summer’s competition.
