“We implemented our plan perfectly on the pitch!”

After the draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Marvin Plattenhardt, Eduard Löwen and karim Rekik all spoke about the game.
The final game of the Hinrunde ended in a goalless draw for the Herthaner against a Gladbach team who will see the year out in second place. The team played incredibly well in the first half in front of a packed and noisy crowd at the Olympiastadion and created plenty of chances. The Foals were much better in the second half but the team managed to hold them to a draw, which means that Klinsmann’s side are now unbeaten in four games. “It’s great that we’ve kept another clean sheet and all in all I think a draw was probably a fair result,” said Marvin Plattenhardt, who wore the captain’s armband. We collected all the post match reaction.
Marvin Plattenhardt: Of course, we would have liked to finish the year with a win in front of our home fans but I think we can be happy with a point in the end. We wanted a strong structure because Gladbach are a team that can move it forwards very quickly. We analysed them a lot during the week, stuck to our game plan on the pitch. and kept their chances to a minimum. We created a lot of our own chances in the first half but Gladbach took over the game a bit more in the second. It's great that we kept another clean sheet and there's nothing wrong with a draw.
Eduard Löwen: Unfortunately, my free kick was just inches away, otherwise it would've gone in. The head coach told us that it would be a really tough and, above all, hard-fought game. We accepted the fight and defended well. It was a real fight but we gave it our best. This is our third clean sheet in a row, that speaks for itself. Gladbach didn't really have any chances. The first thing you have to work on is being hard to play against. Everything else comes in time when the head coach has more time to set up the team. Then you can work more on tactics. In any case, it's good when the team pulls together. It shows that the group is really close. Of course everybody wants to see us play attractive football, which is fun too. Recent results speak for themselves in this regard. We can be pleased with the result. Of course we wanted to win, but we were playing against Gladbach, and we can be pleased with the 0-0.
Karim Rekik: It was hard-fought point. We had our chances in the first half, Gladbach had theirs in the second. Borussia are a very good team, so it's a fine result. We did well to keep a clean sheet. I think the last time we kept three in a row was in 2015. Defensively, we're working better and better together. Everyone knows what they have to do - the back line and our defensive midfielders are communicating well with each other. We're on the right track and I'm excited to see what we can do next.
