It goes beyond football - Social Report 2019/20

The new Social Report 2019 is now also available online. Take a look and find out about Hertha's engagement beyond the borders of football.

"Dear Herthaner,

Dear readers,

We have talked a lot about attitude recently, our attitude. Attitude that we want to show. Attitude that is based on our values of 'diversity' and 'progress'. But what does that mean specifically?

We, the employees and players of Hertha BSC, agree that you have to live by your attitude constantly. It shows up again and again and is not just an expression of a feeling. Our attitude is firmly anchored in our actions and how we live our lives here at Hertha BSC. Everything is linked to our basic values and can also be measured against objective criteria.

Of course it is easy to show a good attitude if you do not experience any resistance and do not have to prove yourself. And even if we know that attitude only develops its true character and strength when it is questioned or encounters resistance, it is our endeavour to push through on a daily basis.

Our social and societal actions shape our club life and should be a source of strength for every area of our club. We’ve made our values very clear for a long time, whether that be on the business side, in the dressing room or in the academy.

We believe that our values also include a social responsibility that we have to live up to. This year's social report should also show that we Herthaner take this responsibility very seriously. The themes and actions of our engagement are very diverse this year too. They form a colourful spectrum of commitment and a sense of responsibility that we can all be proud of. In addition to longstanding projects such as 'Herthaner Helping' and 'Learning from our own history', as well as collaborations such as that with 'MitternachtsSport e.V' or 'Champions without Borders', we have also started some completely new initiatives. For example, the topic of inclusion at Hertha BSC was brought into focus more this year. The highlight was probably our first 'Diversity Day', during which we celebrated the diversity of our city at the end of the 2018/2019 season. Through workshops with experts, for example on the topics of discrimination and homophobia or anti-Semitism, we provided information and underlined our stance on these issues.

At this point I would like to thank all of the committed Herthaner who have worked with great passion on a wide variety of projects and have shown their amazing attitude. In this, the year of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, you’ve continued to take down walls, even if sometimes it's just the imaginary walls in our heads. So thank you!

Of course, we all have to constantly improve and develop and we can do it. Therefore we are very grateful for any critiques, suggestions and ideas of any kind. Please help us get better!"
