"Get points and work our way up the table!"

Jürgen Klinsmann and Michael Preetz spoke at the press conference on Friday (January 17th 2020) about the game against FC Bayern, the staff and the team’s aims for the rest of the season.

Just under five weeks ago, Jürgen Klinsmann and Michael Preetz were sitting in the Hertha media room. Back in mid-December, the coach and the managing director not only talked about the upcoming home game against SC Freiburg, but also about how the table looked before the duel on Matchday 15. It was anything but satisfactory: with twelve points, the 'Alte Dame' ranked 15th, tied with the team in 16th. What followed were seven points against Freiburg, Leverkusen and Mönchengladbach - and thanks to that, a jump to 12th place. A series of four unbeaten duels gave the capital club a great feeling heading into the winter break, but the team cannot relax now. Klinsmann made this clear at the first press conference of the year before the start of the second half of the season – especially given that it’s Bayern Munich up first for the Herthaner. "We are still fighting against relegation, we are not far enough from the bottom of the table and we still have a lot of work ahead of us," said the coach on Friday (17/01/20). "For us, the goal against Bayern is to go out there, give it everything we have and get the crowd on our side for what will be such a big game for the club. The goal for the next few weeks is clear: get points and work our way up!"
Preetz is of course also aware that the record champions won’t lie down on Sunday (January 19th 2020, 3:30 p.m.) in the sold-out Olympiastadion- on a new pitch. "Despite how the table looks currently, FCB are still the favourites to win the title if you ask me," he said.
