Lucas Tousart is a Herthaner!

The midfielder joins from Olympique Lyon and signs on a long-term contract. The Frenchman will be loaned back to Lyon until the summer.

Berlin – Hertha BSC have tied down their first signing of the summer. Lucas Tousart has signed a long-term deal at the club, however he will remain in France for the remainder of the season. “The signing is a preparation for the summer and an investment into our future as a club. In Lucas we are getting a young, but experienced international player from a team in the Champions League, who will strengthen our midfield straight away,” Michael Preetz said about the deal. “I’m happy that the transfer has been completed,” Tousart said with a smile on his face. “I really identify myself with the ambitions of the club. The conversations I had also really impressed me, and by how much they wanted to have me here. What they’re doing here in Berlin is really exciting and I want to be a part of it! I’m happy, but also thankful at the same time for being given the chance to finish my story at Lyon.”

Proven at international level

The 22-year-old midfielder began his professional career at FC Valenciennes back in January 2015, before moving Lyon in the following summer. Tousart went on to win the U19 European Championships with France in 2016, and made a total of 50 appearances for the U19, U20 and U21 teams of the world champions. He even led the U21 team out as captain. He has also racked up a lot of international experience at club level, playing 14 games in the UEFA Champions League for Lyon, as well as 16 UEFA Europa League matches.
