Bundesliga Home Challenge: Hertha BSC takes to the virtual pitch

Maximilian Mittelstädt and Elias Nerlich will represent Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga via video game. Their first match will be on Saturday (28.03.20) against SC Paderborn.

Berlin - The Bundesliga season has been put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, play will continue this upcoming weekend - this time, live from your own home! A total of 26 Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs will be taking part in the Bundesliga Home Challenge, which will kick off on Saturday (28/03/20). Every club will be represented on Playstation by a duo made up of a first-team member and a second representative from within the club. Representing the Old Lady will be Maximilian Mittelstädt, together with Hertha eSports player Elias Nerlich.

Anticipation growing in the capital city

The Blue-Whites will face SC Paderborn in their first virtual match on Saturday (16:20 CET). Mittelstädt said he is excited for the game, adding “I’m looking forward to representing Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga Home Challenge. In my free time I play FIFA regularly and now I can compete and officially see how I measure up against other Bundesliga players, eSports players and club employees. It’s a great format to get through this time.”

Here’s how you can follow along at home: Herthaner can follow the match on herthabsc.de, the Hertha app and on our YouTube channel. The DFL will also be streaming all of this weekend’s Bundesliga Home Challenge matches on the Virtual Bundesliga YouTube channel.
